What is training with Power?
Power in cycling is measured in watts and is a combination of the force/torque being applied to your pedals and cadence. Watts are an objective measure of external load and is precise about how much work your applying and the energy you generate. This is different to Heart Rate which measures how hard your cardiovascular system is working and can be slow to respond/adjust. Training with Power involves training at percentages of your FTP (functional threshold power) to stimulate training adaptations. Measuring training with Power captures a lot more detail about your training sessions and performance which we can utilise to work on the specific areas of improvement you need to reach your goals.
What do I need to train with Power?
A power metre, pedals or smart trainer works perfectly with all our structured training sessions. Also you will need a TrainingPeaks account which is free to set up. You can do your sessions outdoors or but I recommend you use a 3rd Party Indoor Platform (like Zwift) for fully structured training sessions to get the most value out of training with power.
How do I know if coaching is for me?

All cycling – MTB, ROAD, GRAVEL, XC, TT & Triathlon.
I live outside of Australia, can you still coach me?
Of course – we have lots of international cyclists who are Coached by Chops. Technology makes it easy for us to be in touch no matter where you live in the world.
Do I have to do the training sessions inside or can they be done outside too?
No need to ride indoors if you have a big with power; you can take all the sessions outside but always remember to never compromise your safety outside during a session (pick your terrain and pause workouts when ever you need).
How do I receive my training plan?
Once your payment is confirmed, I will confirm your TrainingPeaks account and intended start date, then I will upload your training plan directly into your TrainingPeaks account which will then sync with your preferred training app/platform (Zwift etc).
